Services

Initial consultation

Prior to any decision regarding assessment or tuition, I offer a free telephone consultation or face to face meeting. This gives students (and/or parents) the opportunity to voice their overriding concerns so that we can explore the various options for assessment and support.

Before booking a full diagnostic assessment for Specific Learning Difficulties, you may wish to refer to one or more of the following:

British Dyslexia Association indicators of dyslexia in children

British Dyslexia Association information on Visual Stress

British Dyslexia Association information on dyscalculia

British Dyslexia Association’s Adult Checklist

Dyspraxia Foundation indicators of Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD)/Dyspraxia for FE/HE students

NHS indicators of ADHD

Assessment Reports

Information and evidence gathering begins in the initial interview and includes questionnaires for students and educational establishments as well as parents, if age appropriate. A full diagnostic report will consist of several tried and tested standardised assessments, selected according to age and screening, interview and questionnaire results. The combination of tests and time taken varies according to the individual.

Following assessment, a detailed report is compiled, with recommendations for home and school/college.

Assessment can take place at your home or in my comfortable teaching space. I am able to travel throughout South and Mid Wales, Avon, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Somerset and to London.

Tuition (Local only)

Regular sessions to support literacy and numeracy or develop skills for learning can be booked following an initial trial. 30 minute or 1 hour lessons are possible at my home, or 1 hour lessons at your home.

Training in in schools

Licensed to deliver training for I Can’s award-winning evidence-based Talk Boost programme to groups of teachers and teaching assistants.

Experienced lecturer at HE level, delivering training on the development and support of reading and writing at school.
